Meet Lucretia Gilbert
Visionary philanthropy leader who delivers game-changing performance and impact.
LUCRETIA GILBERT is a visionary nonprofit executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience driving transformational growth, mobilizing philanthropic investment, and advancing mission-driven organizations in the healthcare and social impact sectors. She serves as the Principal & Founder of The Philanthropy Advantage, a high-impact philanthropy consulting firm that provides strategy and implementation support for nonprofits, private foundations, individuals and corporations. Most recently, Lucretia served as Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Elton John AIDS Foundation, one of the world’s leading organizations dedicated to ending the AIDS epidemic. During her tenure, she spearheaded the launch of a groundbreaking $200 million campaign to expand global access to care and prevention. Previously, Lucretia was the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the largest private funder of breast cancer research worldwide. As CPO, Lucretia was responsible for strategy, management, and leadership of a highly dynamic development shop. She has built a track record of strong teambuilding, fostering a culture of philanthropy, entrepreneurial thinking, and a “roll-up-your-sleeves” level of commitment.
Under Lucretia’s 13-year leadership tenure at BCRF, the development and events department raised more than $800 million while expanding the overall reach and capacity of the organization. She simultaneously served as Executive Director of The Pink Agenda (TPA), where she built cross-generational engagement strategies and forged innovative partnerships to cultivate emerging philanthropists. She orchestrated strategic alliances between TPA and BCRF to engage the next generation of philanthropists, as well as Fab-U-Wish, the signature program of Giuliana Rancic, a breast cancer survivor, E! News anchor, and television personality.
Earlier in her career, Lucretia held leadership roles with Gilda’s Club Worldwide and the ALS Association Greater New York Chapter, where she further honed her expertise in major gifts, strategic campaigns, events, and donor engagement.
Lucretia is a graduate of the Executive Education Exponential Fundraising Program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School and holds a Master’s in Public Administration from NYU’s Wagner School. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the New York Junior League and chaired its Board Development Committee. She remains an active Board Member for The Pink Agenda and the New York City Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP-NYC). She is deeply engaged in the nonprofit community, serving as the Program Co-Chair of AFP-NYC Fundraising Day 2025 and 2026.
